One session planned, some easy running & just generally preparing for Saturday’s race! It’s hard not to get excited when everybody is talking about the event (ok, not my race but still it’s part of the same track meet) & the hype grows through the week. Race seedings were announced on Monday evening & I was pleased to see my name in the B race so a high quality group to work with.
Mon 15/5 – 7M Relaxed + XT
Tues – 7M Inc Session of 2 sets of 3 x 800m off rolling 3’s, 4mins off set. 2:16av, first & last faster.
Weds – 6M Easy / XT
Thurs – 5M Relaxed + XT / 5M Inc strides. Felt rubbish until the strides – usual!
Fri – 6M R (am)
Sat – 3M E / 12M Inc Highgate 10,000m, track PB of 30:56. Race report to follow from the best event in the domestic running calendar!
Sun – 19M Tempo
Total 71M, 3hrs XT
The week all went to plan with a decent session on Tuesday & then just freshening up for Saturday’s race. Not even close to what I wanted at the race but gave it a go early on. Felt fine Sunday morning so cheered myself up with a fast run to Holme Pierrepont where we were supporting a friend in the Outlaw half ironman – the following wind was very welcome!
A couple of easy days now before getting the legs moving again as I look to lose close to a minute from Saturday’s time on the roads of London on the 29th! I’m confident I am in shape to run low 30’s. I will certainly be going out hard again & with the roads suiting me better, assuming good conditions that 30 minute barrier still feels as though it’s in reach!
What does “rolling 3” indicate, Stuart?

Hi Nick
Each 800 starts at 3 minute intervals, so recovery depends on how fast the 800 is. A shorter recovery than planned for this one.
