After Cardiff back in early October this was the next target for the winter.
I have been very happy with how training has gone since getting back off holiday in mid-August. Other than a slight calf issue immediately following Cardiff I have trained to plan & hardly missed a single session, averaging ~85mpw & always including a couple of quality sessions & a good solid long run.
Unfortunately while training was going well in the last couple of weeks before the race a busy period at work meant three weeks of continuous 4am starts, which coupled with fighting off a cold meant I felt drained in the few days before the race. Continue reading
After a good block of training since August it’s time for a taper week to see what I can do at Leeds 10K! No doubles this week! I’ve not missed many if any sessions & have generally felt good. I’ll post a race report separately for Leeds.
Mon 10/11 am 7.3M Easy. Up for work at 4am again so decided to break it up by heading out early. Felt really good which was a pleasant surprise after some tough running over the weekend. Kept the pace very easy though to ensure recovery. 2 huge venison steaks should have helped the recovery as well.
One more hard week before a slight easing down for Leeds 10K on the 16th. Feeling good going into this week, although still struggling to get enough sleep/rest due to work commitments. Not being helped by the weather turning & everybody around me seeming to be full of cold.
Mon 3/11 pm 9M Relaxed. This ended up being VERY relaxed! Calves were extremely stiff all day so decided against pushing the pace for the second half as planned to ensure I could get through tomorrow’s session. Happy to cover some reasonable ground in the hour at a very easy effort. Continue reading
Mon 27/10 pm 9.1M Easy. Kept this very easy with a couple of hard week’s ahead & on the back of a long day yesterday. Legs did feel fine though & I’m currently carrying no niggles! Continue reading
